Live Music – you can’t beat it!

Three hundred years ago Johann Sebastian Bach said "The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul." True words, but expanded on three centuries later by James Brown who added "Music has to breathe and sweat. You have to play it live." Premier.tv has, in its ever-expanding library, a selection of live performances, unplugged sessions in our studio and music from the centre stage of the Global Day of Prayer in 2007, at the West Ham football stadium. Enjoy.

Premier Unplugged

When we launched Premier.tv in 2006, we also launched our TV recording studio in our offices in Pimlico. It may be small but it is perfectly formed and, thanks to the good eye and creative flair of Phil, has been adapted to film a wide variety of programme formats. The first real challenge was in filming a complete choir, “The Master’s Voice”, one of the best known gospel choirs in Sweden.

The Master's Voice

Here they perform We lift up your name and God will make a way.

Alabaster Box is an all male gospel acappella music quartet from Ghana, who visited us last year and performed for us. They specialise in a unique kind of acappella, which combines purely mouth-made sounds of African indigenous instruments with African harmonies and melodies and have even coined the name for this, afroppella, meaning "acappella made in Africa."

Alabaster Box

Here they perform Amazing Grace, Nyame Ka Yen Ko, Akwaaba and Nante Yiye.

Jon Christos

Jon Christos, a star of the operatic world, came into the studio just before Christmas 2006 and recorded a version of Ave Maria

Kristyna Myles

Kristyna Miles also popped in that Christmas time. Once voted as busker of the year at the age of 22, she has since then recorded with such luminaries as Chris de Burgh. Here she performs Sunshine.

Global Day of Prayer

This was held at West Ham United FC on May 27th 2007. According to the official report, “over 20,000 Christians from across the denominational and cultural spectrum braved the rain to attend the four hour ecumenical prayer extravaganza which celebrated Pentecost. The service kicked off with worship and artists performed for the crowds of Christians from diverse background, cultures and streams …” And here were some of these performances …

Tim Hughes

Tim Hughes is a Christian worship leader and songwriter, currently Director of Worship at Holy Trinity Brompton in central London and heads up Worship Central, a new worship training resource. Here, Tim performs Beautiful One.

Kendrick

Graham Kendrick is a prolific singer-songwriter and worship leader. He was the son of a Baptist pastor. He began his songwriting career in the late sixties. You will probably remember him for “Majesty” and “Shine, Jesus, Shine”, but the old chap is still going strong! Here Graham performs King of Glory.

Bilborough

David Bilborough is another veteran of the Worship scene. You’ll no doubt remember him for “Abba Father”. Here Dave performs My Jesus My Saviour.

Muyiwa

Muyiwa was born in Nigeria but is now living in London and working for Premier Radio. He’s one of the most gifted Gospel artistes working currently in the UK. Here Muyiwa performs Our God is Good.
